What we watch for on a range rover & land rover
- Roof, roof rails and upper tailgate reached properly with steps — not skipped
- Wheel arches and underbody edges rinsed clear of field mud and salt
- Ivory and light leather interiors need careful, non-staining products
- Large glass areas hand-dried to avoid streaking
Height is the whole problem with big SUVs
Most quick washes miss the top third of a Range Rover because it is awkward to reach. The roof, the top of the tailgate and the upper windscreen surround are exactly where you notice dirt when you walk up to the car. We use steps and do the whole vehicle top-down. Every car here is washed by hand using the two-bucket method — one bucket of pH-neutral shampoo, one of clean rinse water with a grit guard — with wheels cleaned first using separate brushes and mitts so nothing off the road ever goes back onto the paint.
Mud, tracks and rural use
Defenders and Discoverys that actually work carry mud into arches, sills and the underside of the tailgate. A long pre-rinse softens it before contact washing so grit does not get dragged across the paint. Field mud that has dried hard sometimes needs a second pass, and we will say so up front.
Pale interiors
Ivory, Vintage Tan and light Windsor leather look superb and mark badly — denim dye transfer on the driver's bolster is the classic. It is cleanable with a pH-balanced leather cleaner and patience, and a conditioner afterwards keeps the hide supple. We never use aggressive all-purpose cleaner on pale leather.
Which package suits a Land Rover

Can you clean a Defender that has been off-road?+
Yes. Heavy mud needs a longer pre-rinse and we will tell you the price before we start.
Will you clean ivory leather safely?+
Yes, with pH-balanced leather products and a soft brush. Ingrained denim dye can usually be improved substantially, though very old transfer may not lift entirely.
