What we watch for on a mercedes-benz
- Chrome and brightwork cleaned and dried by hand to prevent water spotting
- AMG multi-spoke and turbine wheels are slow to do properly — we allow for it
- MBUX widescreen cleaned dry, no chemical sprays
- Artico and Nappa leather cleaned with pH-balanced products, matte finish
Brightwork is what people notice
Hard water spots on chrome show up from across a car park, and once they etch they need polishing out. That is why every Mercedes here is hand-dried with clean microfibre towels rather than left to air-dry or blown off half-heartedly. Every car here is washed by hand using the two-bucket method — one bucket of pH-neutral shampoo, one of clean rinse water with a grit guard — with wheels cleaned first using separate brushes and mitts so nothing off the road ever goes back onto the paint.
Wheels and brake dust
AMG-line wheels, especially the multi-spoke and turbine designs, hold brake dust in places a wash mitt cannot reach. We use soft woolies and a dedicated pH-balanced wheel cleaner that lifts iron deposits without attacking the lacquer, then dress the tyres for a satin rather than greasy look.
Interiors: Artico, Nappa and open-pore wood
Artico (Mercedes' synthetic leather) cleans easily but hates alcohol-based wipes, which dry the surface and cause cracking around bolsters over time. Nappa gets a light clean and conditioner. Open-pore wood trim is wiped dry only — anything wet sits in the grain and dulls the finish.
Which package suits a Mercedes
The Wash & Dry at £13 is the sensible regular choice because of the hand-dry step on all that brightwork. Before a sale or a lease handover, the Full Valet at £65 covers seats, carpets, roof lining and engine bay — the areas inspectors actually check.
Frequently asked
Will your wheel cleaner damage AMG wheels?+
No. We use a pH-balanced iron-removing cleaner rather than an acid wheel cleaner, which is safe on lacquered and diamond-cut finishes.
Can you clean the MBUX screens?+
Yes — dry microfibre only. Screen coatings are damaged by ammonia and alcohol-based glass cleaners, so we never use them inside a car.
Do you valet AMG models with carbon trim?+
Yes. Exterior carbon is washed and dried like paintwork; interior carbon is wiped dry to avoid dulling the lacquer.
